There's no denying that the summer heat in Texas can be quite unbearable, even for us Texans. However, by preparing for the heat and knowing how to beat it, your day at the park can be a cool and enjoyable one. Here are our 6 favorite ways to beat the summer heat. 6) dine at an indoor locationSix Flags knows how important it is to have indoor dining rooms at it's restaurants, so many of the park's locations feature some in varying extents. Restaurants that feature indoor seating include: All American Cafe, Johnny Rocket's, Oliver's Tavern, Miss Abby's Cookies & Ice Cream, Casa De Las Banderas, JB's BBQ, and Primo's Pizzeria. For more information on these restaurant locations and more, be sure to visit our park dining page. 5) shop at one of the park's many storesSix Flags Over Texas features plenty of unique shopping experiences to keep everyone in the party satisfied. Whether you're looking for a new T-Shirt, one of the new Nanocoaster models, or even if you're just looking around, it is easy to spend an hour or more simply browsing all that the park's stores have to offer. To see which store is best for you, visit our shopping page. 4) ride an indoor attractionWhen you need a break from the heat, sometimes riding an indoor ride can be the perfect way to cool off. Yosemite Sam & The Gold River Adventure, Runaway Mountain, and Justice League: Battle For Metropolis are 3 rides that take place entirely indoors. Rides that take place outdoors but have either fully or partially indoor queues include El Sombrero, Rodeo, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast, and Batman: The Ride. To view information on these rides, be sure to check out our rides page using the 'Plan Your Visit' drop down option at the top of the page. 3) visit the top of the oil derrick towerWith the Oil Derrick Tower finally reopening this season after being closed since the September of 2017 for a full repaint and refurbishment, there is no better time to check out this classic 1969 attraction. Standing 300 feet above Six Flags Over Texas, enjoying the breeze at the top is another great way to cool off while taking in breathtaking views of the Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth skylines. 2) take a spin on one of four water ridesSix Flags Over Texas features 4 exciting water rides for the family to enjoy. El Asseradero takes guests on a relaxing log flume journey that ends by flinging them down a 4-story waterfall. The Aquaman Splashdown soaks riders and resembles the action packed adventures that the hero himself may experience. Roaring Rapids takes 12 riders at a time through an unpredictable rip-roaring river journey, and the Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters soak kids as they spin around in colorful buckets in Bugs Bunny Boomtown. 1) enjoy indoor live entertainmentThroughout the year, Six Flags Over Texas features dozens of unique and exciting entertainment options for guests to enjoy. Each March, Mrs. Ruby's Wild West Cabaret makes it's debut in the Crazy Horse Saloon. Then in June, Hey Mr. DJ: Technicolor Beat flashes it's way into the David Blackburn Southern Palace Theatre. NEW THIS SEASON is the Splash! Water Parade which will soak guests twice a day on it's trip from Gotham City to Mexico and back.
