Top 6 - The Park's Six Tallest Rides

There's no denying that Six Flags Over Texas is the thrill capital of the lone star state. With over 40 rides, ranging from the slow paced Six Flags & Texas Railroad to the 400-foot Texas SkyScreamer, there truly is something for everyone. Today though, we're going to be focusing on the thrills as we countdown the top 6 tallest rides at the park.

6) new texas giant & Dive bomber Alley

Tied for 6th place are my two favorite rides at the park - New Texas Giant and Dive Bomber Alley. Both rides come in at a height of 153 feet and reach speeds of over 60mph. New Texas Giant, an RMC hybrid coaster that was reintroduced in 2011, is constantly regarded as one of the best coasters in the world. Dive Bomber Alley is also quite popular with guests, though the experience isn't too unique since the company has dozens of installations all over the world.

5) mr. freeze: Reverse blast

Coming in at 5th place is Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast. This Premier Rides LIM launched coaster comes in at a height of 218 feet. Mr. Freeze provides a thrilling and unique ride experience as it coasts along it's 2 inversions (1 top-hat taken twice) while going both forwards, and as the name implies, backwards. Mr. Freeze is another guest favorite ride that regularly sees lines exceeding 1-hour in length.

4) titan

Titan is not only the tallest coaster at the park, but actually the tallest coaster in Texas. With a height of 245 and a speed of 85mph, this Giovanola hyper coaster truly is a world-class ride. Titan's first and second helixes both exert 4.5 G's on its riders, causing many people to gray out in the hot Texas heat. If you can handle the thrill, then the Titan is the coaster for you.

3) oil derrick tower

Although not technically a "ride,"  the Oil Derrick Tower still features a moving elevator that takes you to the top of the 300 foot tower. The tower provides beautiful views of the Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth skylines and is the perfect spot for photo-taking.

2) superman: tower of power

It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's Superman. Standing at a height of 325 feet, Superman: Tower of Power is the 2nd tallest freestanding drop tower in North America. The ride drops brave guests at speeds of 55mph as they fly up and down the tower faster than a speeding bullet. Superman: Tower of Power is another guest favorite at the park, and rightfully so!

1) Texas skyscreamer

Flying into the #1 spot on our list is the 400-foot Texas SkyScreamer. Introduced less than 6 years ago in the May of 2013, the TexasSkyScreamer is the 2nd tallest swing ride in the world. The ride provides open views of the DFW skyline and makes parkgoers down below look like tiny little ants. If you're looking for the ultimate thrill this season, look no further than the Texas SkyScreamer.
