New articles released every Monday & Friday!
Wow! The time is is finally here! After 10 months of excitement and anticipation, I finally got to experience the all new Harley Quinn Spinsanity during the park's media preview. Before we begin our update, I would like to personally give Six Flags Over Texas a MASSIVE thank you for inviting the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) out to the event. The treatment that we recieved all morning was exceptional, and I am so greatful to have such a wonderful home park. Now for the moment you have been waiting for... get ready for a first look at the Harley Quinn Spinsanity!
The queue for Harley Quinn Spinsanity is a big U-shaped turn that surrounds nearly the entire ride. You enter under a fantastic looking entrance sign and proceed to a massive set of switchbakcs behind the ride's generator room. Shade structures are currently being installed for those hot summer days, and multiple signs entertain you by telling the story of how Harley Quinn came to be. There are also single rider and Flash Pass lines located just to the left of the main entrance. The queue provides great views of Harley Quinn Spinsanity itself as well as well as The Joker and Batman: The Ride. Once guests reach the front of the line, they'll be grouped on diamonds that match the section in which they're supposed to sit. Once the shade structures are completed (which I assume will be very, very soon), waiting in line will be quite bearable as there are no points were you're just baking in the sun.
The Seats and Restraints:
Once you're let into the ride area, you'll put away all of your loose articles in the bins in front of you and sit down in your assigned seat. You will then pull down your over the shoulder restraint (OTSR) and will wait to have your seatbelt buckled by a ride attendant. The seats are actually extremely comfortable, and while bit restricting, allow you to put their hands and feet out to really enjoy the ride. I rode 21 times in about a 5 hour period and felt no pain from the tightness of the restraints. In conclusion through, the seats and restraints are some of the best that I've seen on a flat ride, and are much more comfortable than they appear to be at first glance.
The Ride Experience:
Almost immediately after being lifted off the ground, your seats begin to rock back and forth, each swing higher than the last. After 3 or 4 swings, you are then fully inverted, providing you with a great moment of hangtime and awesome views of the park upside down. From there, the 2nd and 3rd rings begin to rotate and the insanity, or should I say spinsanity, begins. You are held at positions that I never thought were possible, giving you an awesome mix of forces. Once the ride begins to slow down, you are treated to a moment of sideways hangtime before returning to the home position. You are then lowered back down to the ground where you can then exit. The ride isn't too intense or nauseating, and the duration is just about perfect. The great part about Harley Quinn Spinsanity is that it truely is different each and every time you ride it. The program is based completely off of the weight of the riders which means that you can experience it over and over again and never get the same cycle twice. After experimenting in multiple different seats, I can safely say that my favorite is the very right seat facing the midway. The whipping sensation there is spectacular, and those looking for the most intense ride experience should hope to be sat there. For your refrence, that section of seats is known as "section 4."
In conclusion, Harley Quinn Spinsanity is one heck of a thrill ride. In fact, it's quite possibly my favorite flat ride in the park as it provides a ride experience like no other! The ride is worth the wait and lived up to every bit of hype that it had. Harley Quinn Spinsanity opens to the public on July 14th, but season pass holders and members, as well as those who buy a special Harley Quinn shirt, get to experience the ride early.
