New articles released every Monday!
We've had our fair share of rainy days at the park. Whether it rains for just a few minutes or on and off all day, there are still many fun things to do at Six Flags Over Texas. Below are 5 of our biggest tips on what to do on a rainy day at the park!
1. Come Prepared
Coming prepared is the #1 thing that can make or break a visit to the park on a rainy day. We recommend that you bring ponchos, an extra pair of shoes, a waterproof bag, and the mindset that rides might occasionly close throughout the day. If you're prepared for the weather, you will have a great advantage compared to other guests.
2. See The Shows
Six Flags Over Texas has 3 summer shows that run daily through August 12th. While one is outside and exposed to the elements, the other two (Hey Mr. DJ: Technicolor Beat and Mrs. Ruby's Wild West Cabaret) are both indoors. These shows not only provide a break from the rain, but the brutal Texas heat as well. You can view more information on the summer shows here.
3. Ride The Indoor Rides
Six Flags Over Texas can run most rides in the rain as long as there's no lightning in the area. However, depending on how long the rain lasts, you might want to enjoy a few minutes indoors and away from the elements. Both 'Yosemite Sam And The Gold River Adventure' and 'Justice League: Battle For Metropolis' are exciting indoor dark rides that can provide a nice break from the rain.
4. Look Around At The Park's Gift Shops
Six Flags Over Texas has more than a dozen gift shops that all feature fun and unique items. Rain showers provide a break from the rides to pick out the perfect souvenir to remember your visit to the park. Even if you don't want to buy anything, looking around at all of the different items can provide a nice few minutes out of the rain. Also, be sure to try on the various silly hats and have a laugh with your friends and family.
5. Enjoy The Time When It's NOT Raining
Even if the forcast says so, it won't rain all day while you're at the park. This means that between rain showers and storm cells, you'll still have time to hop on your favorite rides and enjoy the other outdoor activities without getting soaked head to toe. Save things such as eating, shopping, or seeing indoor shows for when it does rain, and take advantage of the time that the storms give you a break. The park will be less busy during these rainy days, and you'll want to take advantage of the short lines while they last.
Those are 5 tips on how to make the most of a rainy day at the park. Have any advice that I didn't mention or requests for new blog topics? Let me know in the comments section down below or on any of our social media pages. That's it for now, and we hope to see you again soon!
