Thrill Time Blog
New articles released every Monday & Friday!
With the busy 4th of July week ahead, I figured that now would be a great time to talk about what I like to do on busy days at the park. There are so many things to do that provide a nice break from the hustle and bustle we sometimes get caught up in, and I explain 5 of those down below.
1. Go To The Top Of The Oil Derrick Tower
The top of the Oil Derrick Tower is one of my favorite spots at Six Flags Over Texas. This 300 foot tall observation tower provides views of all of Six Flags Over Texas,
Globe Life Park, AT&T Stadium, Hurricane Harbor, and the Dallas and Fort Worth skylines. The view is especially beautiful at sunset! Another great thing about the Oil Derrick Tower is that you are able to spend as much time at the top as you would like. Whether you enjoy the view for 2 minutes or 2 hours, the Oil Derrick Tower is a great way to spend some time away from the crowds of Six Flags Over Texas.
2. Take Advantage of Single Rider Lines
No visit to Six Flags Over Texas is complete without a spin or two on my favorite coasters, flat rides, and dark rides. Whether you're by yourself or in a group, anyone can take advantage of single rider lines on some attractions. The wait times are generally significantly shorter when a single rider line is used which means that you can save lots of valuable time on a busy day. Single rider lines are currently offered on La Vibora, Pandemonium, Justice League: Battle For Metropolis, Superman, and the Texas SkyScreamer.
3. Take New Photos And Videos
If you follow me on Instagram (@overtexasthrills AND @coastergeekz), you would know that I love capturing Six Flags Over Texas behind the lense. And to me, there is no better time to take pictures than on busy days at the park. The rides are full, energy is high, and there is just so much excietment to capture. I can easily spend hours walking around the park and taking pictures of everything going on.
4. See Live Shows
Seeing live shows is another wonderful thing to do when crowds at the park are at a high. There are no lines to see shows (unless you arrive early to get a good seat) and 2 of them have air conditioning. Those of course being Mrs. Ruby's Wild West Cabaret and Hey Mr. DJ Technicolor Beat. The crowd interaction on busy days is lots of fun and having a place to sit for a few minutes is always welcome.
5. Walk Around And Enjoy The Atmosphere
It's the simple things in life that are sometimes the best, and walking around Six Flags Over Texas to enjoy the atmosphere is one of them. Rides soar above your head, the smell of food fills your nose, and fun is being had all around. On busy days at the park, I sometimes take a few minutes to just enjoy what a wonderful park Six Flags Over Texas is.
There you have it, 5 things that I like to do when Six Flags Over Texas is exceptionally busy. Hopefully you keep some of these things in mind next time you visit the park on a crowded day. Are there any tips you have that I didn't mention? Let me know in the comments section below! Thanks for checking out the new Thrill Time blog and have a wonderful weekend.
