Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
Gotham City Chicken Restaurant
The new Gotham City Chicken Restaurant is finally nearing completion. Concrete has been poured to connect the restaurant to the main path and the suppport structure that the sign will be mounted to has been installed. I wouldn't be suprised to see this location open up in time for the start of Fright Fest on September 22nd.
Fright Fest Preparation
Now that Fright Fest starts in just over 2 weeks, preparation for the event is in high gear. Props are being set up in and around the parks numerous haunted houses and scare zones and other spooky decor (including a lot of spider webs) are going in as well. Be sure to check out our 2018 Guide To Fright Fest for information on everything new and returning for this years event. The guide also features a park hours and crowd calendar section as well as information on the parks costume guidelines and early ride closures.
Fright Fest Merchandise Now Available
New Fight Fest merchandise has appeared inside of the Looney Tunes Mall. My personal favorite is the new souvenir cup holder, but the other options are neat as well. Membership discounts are accepted, so be sure to stock up on some Fright Fest goodies!
New Member Exclusive Backpacks
While on the topic of new merchandise, here's a look at the new membership exclusive backpacks avilibale at Membership Services. The bags are $5.99 plus tax but as with most items, membership discounts are accepted.
Oil Derrick Tower Update
The Oil Derrick Tower refurbishment is finally complete after an 8 month long repaint. While the tower itself is still closed, the area around it has been cleaned up and all of the paint buckets, tarps, and equipment has been removed. Even though it's now complete, the attraction will likely remain closed through the end of the season and will reopen with the park next Febuary.
GoPuck Power Now Being Sold & Rented
GoPuck Power has set up two tents within the park to rent and sell their portable chargers to guests. We don't have a price because no one was actually at tents all day while we were there, but signs were located throughout the park advertising the product anyways. We're not sure how long the product will be offered, but assuming that they're going to stick around for a bit, the tents are located in both the Gotham City and USA sections of the park.
‘Texas Gifts’ Being Cleared
Texas Gifts, better known as just the clearance shop, has had all of its merchandise and shelving removed. I assume that the location is now closed for good as it was only really open on busier, better staffed days and it never seemed to be too popular. I’m not sure whether this will become a new shopping location or simply storage, but I’ll keep you updated each week as I learn more!
Flash Sale Update
Just a quick reminder that the 2018 Flash Sale has been extended to Sunday, September 9th due to technical difficulties with the Six Flags website. The glitch made purchasing passes and memberships as well as processing them in the park impossible for parts of the day on Monday, September 3rd and Tuesday, September 4th.
That's all for this Six Flags Over Texas park update. We can not emphasize enough just how excited we are for the 2018 season. So much has already taken place and from what we've seen, it's only the beginning! Stay tuned on overtexasthrills.com and our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook @overtexasthrills) for updates as soon as articles like this are released. Thank you for reading and we'll see you again next time!
