Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
Wow! This is our very last park update before the start of Fright Fest. Now that the event is starting in just a couple of days, we have tons of new deatils and pictures from around the park, including INSIDE OF HELL BLOCK 6! Lets take a look!
Ma Hunkel's Famous Chicken
Rumor has it that Ma Hunkel's Famous Chicken will be open in time for the second or third week of Fright Fest. This definitely appears to be possible as the finishing touches are now being put into place. The self ordering kiosks have been delivered as well as many of the other kitchen appliances. We'll keep you posted on social media for news as soon as the restaurant opens.
Hell Block 6 Lights On Tour
As a part of Lone Star Coasterthon (read our trip report here) we went on a lights on tour of the new Hell Block 6 haunted house. Taking up over 4,800 square feet, Hell Block 6 will be the largest and most eleborate haunted house at Six Flags Over Texas. The house has been in production for over 18 months and is being constructed by RWS Studios out of New York. We learned a lot about how many amazing scare oppurtinities the house will have, but we don't want to spoil them all for you. We will say, however, that just because something looks fake doesn't mean it will be. Also, actors might not only be posing as prisioners... they could be everyday guests too. Keep your eyes peeled! You're going to love this house so much that you're going to want to go through again and again to see all of the details.
Fright Fest Preparation
As we mentioned at the beginning of this week's update, Fright Fest starts this weekend. As expected, most of the scare zone props have been put into place and the haunted houses are all nearly complete.
A fun thing happening this year is that some of the rides are getting into the Fright Fest spirit. New Texas Giant is now the Giant CarnEVIL, Runaway Mountain has a goblin or two, or 8, inside, and the Runaway Mine Train is being themed to a Posessed Doll Factory. For the full experience on these rides, be sure to check them out after "Fright By Night" begins at 7pm.
Welcome to the 'park updates' page!
As of June 2018, we will be uploading a new park update every Wednesday throughout the summer!
Our park updates page was created to document the changes coming to Six Flags Over Texas on a week to week basis. From the little things such as paint and lighting to the big things like new ride construction, we do our best to update you on everything going on at the thrill capital of Texas!
