Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
This week's park update will be a bit of a quick one. Not much (visible) progress has been made in the past week which is sometimes to be expected. However, we do have some exciting new photos of the Gotham City Chicken Restaurant construction as well as some wicked new rumors regarding this year's Fright Fest event.
Gotham City Chicken Restaurant:
We're not going to point out too much this week other than the fact that TV monitors have been placed outside of the restaurant for menus to be displayed on. A few other small details have been worked on around the building and a bit more concrete has been poured out in front. Other than that, not too much has changed on the outside!
Fright Fest Construction And Rumors:
Let's start off with what the big news regarding the new haunted house coming this year. As we've mentioned over the past few months, a new, potentially year-round haunted house will be coming to the Gotham City section of the park. Until now, we haven't heard any real rumors regarding what the theme of the house will be. But recently we heard from a couple of sources on just what could be coming. That is information that we'll cover in next week's update! Just kidding. We have heard that this year's haunted house will contain a Suicide Squad-esque setting, executions, and many jail cells for actors to hide in. Keep in mind that this won't be an official Suicide Squad house, but rather just a similar setting with no ties to the DC franchise. Another source told us that this WILL be an official Suicide Squad house, but that seems less likely to us as an announcement most likely would've been made earlier on this season. Either way, it's great to see that a new haunted house in in the works for Gotham City.
Now heading over to the construction side of things, Fright Fest is officially around the corner as the Zombie Infestation tent is now being set up in the supervisor parking lot by Titan. Additionaly, wood is being replaced inside the Cadaver Hall Morgue and Cirkus Berzerkus and the structures that house the second facades (the ones at the entrance to the house, not the end of the line) are being installed. Lastly, ground work is being done around the new for 2018 haunted house location (details above) and 6 crates containing props have been delivered to the park and are currently sitting by the building.
New Membership Lanyards:
If you follow us on social media, you have already seen the cool new membership lanyards being offered for Platinum, Diamond, and Diamond Elite memberships. The cost for the lanyard is $4.99 plus tax (membership discounts are accepted) and they are curretnly being sold at the Looney Tunes Mall, Membership Services (at both Six Flags Over Texas & Hurricane Harbor), and at the Cabana Brothers Gift Shop at Hurricane Harbor. The lanyards feature a watertight plastic card holder, detachable end for easy scanning at the parks, and a neat Six Flags emblem. We got one for ourselves and can say that it was well worth the $2.69 price with the Diamond Elite membership.
That's all for this Six Flags Over Texas park update. We can not emphasize enough just how excited we are for the 2018 season. So much has already taken place and from what we've seen, it's only the beginning!
