Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
Let's start off this week's park update with some exciting news. Now that we're well into the summer season, we're going to be starting a more consistant update schedule. This means that every Wednesday, we'll be publishing a new update on everything going on at the park. This week we'll be focusing on Harley Quinn Spinsanity, Gotham Chicken, Superman VR, 4th of July Fest, The Flash Pass adding new rides, and lastly, the new Texas SkyScreamer single rider line.
Harley Quinn Spinsanity Construction:
Harley Quinn Spinsanity is getting closer to completion each and every week. Right now, queue theming is going in and ride testing is in progress. All of the LED's were installed as well, and last night we caught some pictures and video of the ride's light package in full force. The entrance will be themed to ACE chemicals (inspired by the American Coaster Enthusiasts, possibly?) and will likely be a replica of the one at Six Flags New England. You can also see red stained concrete at the entrance of the ride, similar to the style seen on The Riddler Revenge and The Joker. The operators booth and queue concrete are in the works as well. The area looks like it's almost ready for guests, and I for one am extremely excited!
UPDATE: While we were writing this, the OFFICAL OPENING DATE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED! You can take a ride on Harley Quinn Spinsanity starting on July 14th! Member previews will likely take place but have not yet been announced. We'll update you as we learn more!
"Gotham Chicken Restaurant" Construction:
It wouldn't be a park update without information on the "Gotham Chicken Restraunt," and I'm happy to say that a ton of progress has been made in the past few days. Framework for the restaurant is now up and a constrution crew was on hand working for most of the day! Concrete surrounding the building has been poured and it won't be too much longer before the restaurant is offically open. I would expect it to be just about another month. You can also see that this restaurant will contain outdoor seating, with the indoor section being reserved just for kitchen space. You will order at one of two windows (seen in red) and pick up your food right next door (seen in blue). This will make the line move quickly and without hassle!
In our last update we shared photos showing signs of VR being added to Superman: Tower of Power. This week, even more has been installed in preperation for its debut later this summer! We assume that this computer (added to the bottom of the red tower) will detect when the ride lifts off the ground. That will then send a signal to the headsets which starts the VR video and gameplay. Rumors right now indicate an opening just in time for the 4th of July Fest, but of course, nothing is offical until announced by the park.
4th Of July Fest:
This year's Coca Cola 4th of July Fest kicks off on June 30th! The event will feature Exclusive Ride Time (ERT) all 5 mornings, a nightly fireworks show, a foam and dance party, and possibly best of all, the All American Food Festival! The Gotham City section of the park will be decked out with red, white, and blue lights and will be the ultimate place to celebrate within the park. To those wondering, we will publish a full guide to the event later this week. For now, here's a look at the food festival purchasing options as well as the lights going up in Gotham City!
The Flash Pass Adds Two Additional Rides:
As an All Season Flash Pass holder, I have been thrilled by all of the changes made to the system this year. Towards the middle of March, no rides were limited to Platinum only. Then just eariler this month, those with the All Season Flash Pass were given the option to upgrade to a Platinum All Season Flash Pass. Now, 2 additonal rides have been added to the Flash pass system! The Chaperal Antique Cars as well as Runaway Mountain are now able to be reserved on all 3 levels of the Flash Pass. Below are images of the Flash Pass device as well as the Flash Pass entrance for Runaway Mountain.
Texas SkyScreamer Single Rider Line:
Great news for Texas SkyScreamer fans as the ride now has a single rider line. To take advantage of it, simply enter through the Flash Pass line and tell the attendant that you're a single rider. They'll then group you with a partner and get you on the ride as quickly as possible. The Texas SkyScreamer joins La Vibora, Justice League, Pandemonium, and Superman which all have single rider lines as well.
That's all for this Six Flags Over Texas park update. We can not emphasize enough just how excited we are for the 2018 season. So much has already taken place and from what we've seen, it's only the beginning! Thank you for reading and we'll see you again next time!
