Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
Now that daily operations have begun, Six Flags Over Texas is hard at work getting everything ready for the busy summer season ahead. This weeks topics include Harley Quinn Spinsanity, the new Gotham Chicken restaurant, Touch N' Go order kiosks, Aquaman's refurbishment, the Oil Derrick Tower repaint, updated fences around the Texas Giant area, new advertising marques, summer entertainment announcements, and finally, updates on the upcoming 4th of July Fest.
Harley Quinn Spinsanity Construction:
While not much has changed in terms of appearance, Harley Quinn Spinsnaity has come far in the past week. Crews have been on site all day, every day since our last update working on the electrical systems that will soon lift rides 70 feet in the air. We also got a closer look at the construction site thanks to the new, lower fence that runs horizontal to The Joker's queue.
"Gotham Chicken Restaurant" Construction:
Construction for the new "Gotham Chicken" restaurant is now well underway. Last time, we reported that markers were in the ground for electrical and/or plumbing work. Now it appears that these lines are being installed.
Last week we reported that Aquaman was closed for a much needed refurbishment and cleaning. We now have a couple of new photos showing the progress on the ride and a rumored reopening date of this Saturday, May 26th.
Oil Derrick Repaint Update:
Now that the top of the Oil Derrick has been repainted, crews are starting work on the bottom half of the tower. Paint has gone up around the elevator doors and on 3 sides of the base of the tower. The project is looking great, and progress is being made everyday.
Touch 'N' Go Ordering Kiosks:
Touch 'N' Go Ordering Kiosks now accept All Season Dining Passes. The kiosks are available at Rancho De Pollo, JB's Barbecue, the All American Cafe, Dry Hole Charlies, and Johnny Rockets.
Updated Fencing Around The New Texas Giant:
The area between New Texas Giant and Titan has received all new fencing! Because of an increasing number of guests jumping into restricted areas, the park has decided to step up safety and security measures to make sure that guests understand the danger they put themselves in by jumping a fence and into a restricted area. Along with this, new signage has been installed surroundounding the ride as well, including ones in that state "activities in this area are being recorded to aid in the prosecution of any crimes commited and enforcement of park safety rules."
New Advertising Marques:
Six Flags Over Texas has been working hard this year to modernize the park, and these new advertising marques are just another sign of that! The old and outdated signs are slowly being removed and replaced with a much more simple looking set up. Conisder me a fan!
Summer Entertainment Options:
With the summer season quickly approaching, entertainment has been hard at work preparing its two shows for guests. Because Texas Justice will be mostly the same as years past, the focus today will be put on the parks new for 2018 option; Hey Mr. DJ: Technicolor Beat. Opening on June 2nd, the show is said to include an immersive and sizeable new set and a unique, Vegas inspired playlist. The show sounds like it's going to be a fantastic new offering for the park, and I for one and more than excited to check it out myself!
4th Of July Fest Updates:
With so much going on at the park right now, it seems hard to imagine that the 4th of July is just around 5 weeks away. However, Six Flags is already advertising their 4th of July Fest event, which runs daily from June 30th-July 4th, around the park. This years event will include the brand new "All American Food Festival" as well as an exciting fireworks show for the first time in recent history.
That's all for this Six Flags Over Texas park update. We can not emphasize enough just how excited we are for the 2018 season. So much has already taken place and from what we've seen, it's only the beginning!
