Trip reports, rumors, construction and more!
It's been a couple of weeks since our last Six Flags Over Texas update, so quite a bit has changed. In today's update we will have more information on topics mentioned last time as well as some new changes emerging more recently. Lets take a look!
Harley Quinn Spinsanity:
Last time we mentioned that parts for the new Harley Quinn Spinsanity were scattered throughout Six Flags Over Texas property. We now have pictures showing off the sleek red, black, and white supports that will make up the ride. The parts that you see wrapped up are actually the 20 seats that riders will sit in once the ride opens. As mentioned previously, the parts are in the parking lot (first picture, taken from parking lot tram), underneath Titan's lift hill (second picture, taken from the ride's station), and on the site of the ride itself (third picture, taken from Batman's exit ramp).
Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters Downtime:
If you've been to the park this season, you might've noticed that Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters, located in Bugs Bunny Boomtown, has been closed and partly disassembled. We're now hearing that a gear in the center of the ride needs to be replaced in order for the attraction to reopen. To do this, the "beach patrol" tower housing Daffy Duck has been removed and placed underneath the lift of Aquaman. We don't know when the ride will reopen, but we did see the parks maintenance team hard at work trying to get the ride ready for as soon as possible.
Oliver's Tavern (Philly Cheesesteak):
Philly Cheesesteak, located in the Tower section of the park, is undergoing what looks to be just final touches before it officially opens to guests. Both the interior and exterior of the building has undergone a massive refurbishment and I have to say, it looks great! The building has received massive a new AC unit to ensure that the restaurant stays nice and cool during the summer. The sign for the restaurant has been installed as well! We would not be surprised to see the restaurant open this coming weekend.
Demolition Begins For New "Gotham Chicken" Restaurant:
Gotham Chicken will be opening up later this season in the place of the old Harley Quinn Spinsanity. The restaurant, serving various types of chicken (surprise), is now one step closer to beginning construction. Concrete is now being torn up to allow for foundations to be placed for the new location. The former queue line for HQS is in the process of being disassembled as well.
Self Ordering Kiosks:
Since they were implemented late last summer, the self ordering kiosks have become more and more popular among park guests. Feedback for the kiosks appears to have been mainly positive as the park is now committed to bringing these devices to more locations. On our most recent visit, 4 kiosks were in the process of being installed at both Dry Hole Charlie's and Rancho De Pollo. Also, for those of you wondering, the self ordering kiosks still don't accept all season passes. However, it's been confirmed by the park that the I.T. crew is working on making that possible later this spring!
Ride Crew Of The Week:
A new feature we will be including into all of our Spring 2018 updates will be "ride crew of the week." This is a crew that went above and beyond to increase guest experience. This can be through operations, interaction, service, or of course all 3. The second ever ride crew of the week award goes to...
New Texas Giant!!!
Great job, New Texas Giant crew! Despite your 90 minute wait time, trains in the station were dispatching before the one behind it finished up the ride course. It's great to see the world's first RMC Hybrid Coaster getting the love and attention it deserves. Keep it up!
That's all for this Six Flags Over Texas park update. We can not emphasize enough just how excited we are for the 2018 season. So much has already taken place and from what we've seen, it's only the beginning! Thank you for reading and we'll see you again next time!
