Destinations include North Texas water parks, resorts and festivals!
Each year, families from around the state of Texas flock to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This years event, which runs from January 12th to February 3rd, is expected to be the biggest one yet!
This year's midway is provided by Talley Amusements, a company known extremely well within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Some of their events include Grapefest/Main Street Days, the State Fair of Texas and many other local carnivals.
New this year is the Magic Money Wristband. Rather than buying ticket sheets before each ride, Magic Money Wristbands allow you to charge up your band and use the money on rides, games, and food all around the midway. This eliminates the need for counting out tickets before each ride! Magic Money Wristbands can be reloaded using either the app or one of the many kiosks located around the midway.
Another new addition for 2018 is the Giant Wheel. At 108 feet tall, this is one of the largest traveling ferris wheels in the country. The ride provides spectacular views of Fort Worth and other surrounding areas. At night, thousands of LED's create a dazzling light show that can be seen from all around the fair.
Other major rides on the midway include The Beast, Mega Drop and the newly refurbished Iron Dragon roller coaster. Check out some on-ride videos we took of the rides below!
While we were extremely late putting out this article (the fair ends tomorrow, February 3rd) we hope that you'll be able to check out other events by Talley Amusements later this year. Be sure to follow us on Instagram @overtexasthrills and like us on Facebook (Over Texas Thrills) to receive updates as soon as new articles come out! Stay tuned for a Six Flags Over Texas opening weekend report later this month as well as more fun adventures around North Texas. Until next time!
The time has come! After years of planning, development, and construction, Grand Prairie's indoor waterpark has officially opened its gates to the public. We were able to visit the park on Sunday, January 14th, just 2 days after it's official opening.
With over 80,000 square feet of year-round fun, this $88 million dollar facility was appropriately named! The waterpark features 11 slides, 3 of which are firsts for the indoor waterpark industry. On top of just the slides, Epic Waters also features a Flow Rider surf simulator, a 4,000 square foot arcade, a lazy river, a recreational pool complete with basketball hoops, and a kids water playground.
For those that aren't looking to get wet, Epic Waters has you covered. The 4,000 square foot arcade (seen above) features over 50 arcade games for your enjoyment. Other dry activities include watching people take on the Flow Rider, grabbing a drink at the full service bar, and ingulging on one of the park's many food options. Epic Waters offers a "spectator only" wristband at a discounted rate.
For the thrill seekers in your party, I recommend slides such as the 'Lasso Loop', 'Yellow Jacket Drop' and the 'E Racers' mat slide. Other great options include braving the 50 foot 'Prairie Plunge', taking a spin on the 'Texas Twist' or being thrown side to side on the 'Aquanaut.'
Epic Waters is sure to be a hit for the state of Texas. Not only is the park full of things to do, it's also affordable for the entire family. There's a great mix of activities for guests young and old and we have no doubt that it will be extremely popular for years to come. Be sure to visit epicwatersgp.com for more information on this spectacular new park!
