Over Texas Thrills!
Six flags over texas!
Another week has passed and the Joker has officially been topped off! Trains are being put onto the transfer track and the large Joker sign is ready to be lifted into place. So much has changed since last week and the ride is really coming together. Lets check it out!
Only one more piece of track is waiting to be placed before both sides are officially completed. These photos were taken early in the morning so there's a good chance that it's now finished.
Catwalks are also in the process of being placed on the green side. I have to admit, the charcoal gray and green really looks great together! These catwalks will lead up to the top of the lift hill as well as the upper level of the brake run.
Speaking of brakes, the large magnetic fins for both raven turns have been installed this past week. These will be used to keep a maintainable and safe speed as the cars go down both "major" drops!
Perhaps the most exciting find this visit was that the first train is being placed onto the transfer track. As you may have noticed, the vests have not yet been installed over the restraints. These will be installed right before testing to protect the foam.
I still can't believe how great the colors turned out looking. The purple and green really pop together! This ride will unquestionably awe guests as they drive into the park with it being just feet away from the road. I'm sure that it'll cause it's fair share of accidents on the intersection and highway too!
As a bonus, here's a look at the Gold River Adventure boats being repainted. This classic family ride has definitely seen some wear and tear over the years so it's great to see it getting some attention! This is just one of MANY improvements coming to the park this season. Stay tuned to opening day for the rest!
Currently The Joker at Over Texas is 80 days ahead of Great Adventure's construction schedule. Seeing that theirs opened on May 28th last year (After some testing problems) it is very possible that the ride can open for Spring Break. In fact, if Over Texas continued at the same pace as Great Adventure AND encountered the same problems they would still be set for a March 9th opening. It's definitely exciting to see how it's coming together!
Thank you for checking out this weeks construction update. Today also marks he halfway point through the offseason. 27 days and 27 to go. Follow us on Instagram at @overtexasthrills and subscribe to us on YouTube. See you next time!
