Six Flags Over Texas!
Trip reports, rumors, construction updates and more.
There's no doubt that Fright Fest is our favorite time of the year at Six Flags Over Texas. With this year's event quickly approaching, we think that it's only appropriate to share 7 reasons why we LOVE Fright Fest.
1. The haunted houses
Visiting the haunted houses is an essential part of any Fright Fest visit. Featuring 5 unique mazes this season, there's no better way to enjoy getting scared than in the Fright Fest haunted houses. This year's lineup consists of retuning fan favorite Piggy's Blood Shed along with the Cadaver Hall Morgue, Cirkus Bezerkus, Zombie Infestation and Blackout. The haunted houses are an additional fee, but with a $25 wristband you can enjoy the 5 haunts all night long. For Season Pass holders, $25 gets you into the haunted houses all SEASON long.
2. the awakening
Each night at 7:00pm, Six Flags Over Texas performs THE AWAKENING. During the 8 minute show, The Collector and his assistant Cannibal raise all of the monsters from the dead and send them out into the park. You'll receive an introduction to all of the different scare zones and depending on where you stand, even a scare or two. In our opinion there's no better way to kick off your night at Fright Fest than by watching THE AWAKENING. (You can check out our video of last year's show here... https://youtu.be/9AEfdQf3cEo)
3. The goblin attack squad
For those of you that don't know, the Goblin Attack Squad is a group of actors that roam the park freely throughout the night. While they might look like your ordinary monsters, they're most certainly not. When the goblin's are ready to make an attack, they quickly slide on the ground in front of you, startling all of their unsuspecting prey. The group has become a Fright Fest staple over the past couple of years, getting bigger and better each season. We certainly look forward to seeing our goblin friends again once the event starts on September 23rd!
4. Rides in the dark
With Fright Fest being a nighttime focused event, the park stays open later than during any other time of the year. In fact, the park is open until midnight on select nights! This allows for hours of night rides on our favorite attractions. Dropping 255 feet on the Titan is one thing during the day, but doing it at night is a completely different experience! As an added bonus, select coasters actually turn of their lift hill lights meaning that you'll ride in complete darkness.
5. Bug's Bunny Spooky Town
During Fright Fest, Bug's Bunny Boomtown transforms into Bug's Bunny Spooky Town. Designed for young children, Bug's Bunny Spooky Town features trick or treating, kid friendly spooks and all of area's rides and attractions! Please keep in mind that all children attractions, including Bug's Bunny Spooky Town, close at 6pm to prepare the park for Fright by Night.
6. The Scare Zones
Spread out throughout the park, scare zones are areas overrun with clowns, zombies, monsters and more. Because they're unavoidable, it's quite funny to see unprepared guests get scared by the area's actors. This year the park will feature Texas Scare-a-Tory, Boomtown Terror, the Bio-Mech Sector, Freaktown Side Show and Voodoo Swamp. As mentioned previously, all 5 scare zones are unavoidable and free with Fright Fest admission.
7. Arania's nightmare
Arania's Nightmare is a Six Flags classic and a tradition for many guests. Starring the black widow bride herself, Arania is looking for husband #14 as for some reason, the 13 that came before have died tragic deaths. The show features a comedic take on classic love stories and a nudge or two at some of the year's pop culture. For us, no visit to Fright Fest is complete without seeing Arania's Nightmare!
