New Flash Pass Devices
Just this past weekend, the park rolled out their brand new Flash Pass devices. Being a touch screen wristband, reserving and cancelling rides is now done with various different swipe motions. While they were difficult to pick up on at first, it becomes much easier after a few minutes with the device. While they have already received a good bit from other All Season The Flash Pass holders, I actually liked having the device on my wrist rather than clipped onto a belt loop or in my bag.
Mr. Freeze Gets A 3RD Train
Now that the ride is open year-round, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast has received a 3rd train. Coaster fans can almost immediately identify this as the train from the Batman & Robin The Chiller coaster that operated at Six Flags Great Adventure until 2007. While it's impossible to run all 3 trains at the same time, this third train will be in rotation and will occasionally run on the track while one of the other 2 is down for it's annual maintenance procedures. This means that the ride will be running with 2 trains all year.
Justice League Loose article Policy
Justice League: Battle For Metropolis no longer allows loose articles on the ride. Now, all bags, cups, plush, and anything else that can not fit in your pocket must be left in the ride bins. To accommodate the new loose article storage, rows 3 and 4 (really rows 1 and 2, just staggered) have been eliminated and only one cycle at a time will be grouped.
Boomtown sports bar cancelled
If you follow us on social media (Facebook and Instagram @overtexasthrills) you would know that the Boomtown Bar project has been cancelled. The cleared land has had asphalt poured over it and it is now just another pathway.
Boot Scootin' Downtime
It appears that off-season maintenance has begun early for Boot Scootin' as the ride is now in pieces with the seats removed from the fiberglass boots. Don't expect this ride to be scootin' around for the rest of the 2018 season.
That's all for this week's park update. Lots of exciting things are going on at the park every week, and we love covering them all for you.
